Navajo County Sheriff’s Office is approximately 1800
square miles. It encompasses the unincorporated areas of
White Mountain Lake, Snowflake, Taylor, Shumway, Cedar Hills,
Show Low Pines, and the Ranch of the Golden Horse. There are
four deputies and one sergeant assigned to the area.
During this time period,
Sheriff’s Deputies responded to five requests to assist
citizens, one burglary report, one traffic offense report, two
agency assist requests, and one weapons offence report.
Deputies issued seven civil traffic citations.
“Citizen Assist calls”
includes, but is not limited to; information/suspicious/civil
reports, 911 hang ups, alarm calls, abandoned vehicles calls,
shots fired (no suspect), deliver messages, welfare checks,
etc…
Area Deputies made two arrests
during this period. Bernardo Castro-Lopez was arrested
for misconduct involving weapons and false reporting to law
enforcement; Aracely Chavez was arrested, cited and released
for display of a cancelled license plate/registration.
Active investigations are being
worked on several burglaries that have occurred in the White
Mountain Lake area in and around Woodside Trail. If anyone has
information about these burglaries the Sheriff’s Office
would appreciate your help. You can also call the WeTip hot
line at 1-800-782-7463 where your information is confidential
and you can be eligible for a cash reward.
** Burglaries are always a trying
time for victims. Please help all law enforcement
agencies by recording serial numbers and/or your own specific
marking. In this way, if you are the victim of a theft or
burglary, any items recovered can be readily identified and
returned to the rightful owner. If serial numbers and/or
your own specific marking are not listed on loss reports it
becomes difficult to identify owners and return those recovered
items. Photographing of your property is also a good way
to identify your property. Keep these records and
photographs in a safe place. ** Benjamin Franklin said
“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”.
The Sheriff’s Auxiliary
Volunteers of the Cedar Hills and White Mountain Lake
Unit’s are manning the Sheriff’s Office Taylor
substation on Pinedale Road every Tuesday from 8 AM to 4 PM.
The substation also has a mail box at the front door for
paperwork drop off when a deputy is not available.
Please remember that no matter the
time of the year, you have to possess a burn permit issued by
your local police or fire department for any outdoor burning.
Your compliance is very much appreciated.
If you have any information
regarding the above mentioned crimes, or any other crime,
please contact a deputy at any one of the local numbers:
928-536-7327, 928-532-6060, 928-535-7111, 928-524-4050, or
