Area 3 is the largest area of the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office, it covers over 2,200 square miles. Currently we have one Sergeant, six deputies, and one detective assigned to the area. Their area of coverage includes: Heber, Overgaard, Aripine, Chevlon Retreat, Chevlon Acres, Antelope Valley, Claysprings, and Pinedale.
On 7/11/2011 around 8:30am deputies responded to 2823 HWY 260 Forest Lakes, AZ to assist Coconino County on a domestic violence / assault call. After investigation, deputies arrested Kathleen Mensch from Forest Lakes for assault and criminal damage. Kathleen had assaulted her husband and broken several furniture pieces during their argument. Kathleen was transported and booked into Coconino County Jail for the charges. (2739)
On Wednesday 7/13/2011 around 4:15pm a deputy conducted a traffic stop on SR 277 in Overgaard for speeding. The driver Dorothy Collings from Illinois was issued a criminal citation for speed, 69 in a 45. (2921)
On Wednesday 7/13/2011 around 10pm a deputy conducted a traffic stop on SR 260 just outside of Aripine. During the traffic stop, the deputy suspected the use of marijuana on the driver and tow passengers. Upon completion of the investigation, Dillon Goodman and Tanner Young, both from Show Low were arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. (2921)
On Friday 7/15/2011 around 7pm a deputy took a stolen vehicle report out of Clay Springs. On Saturday 7/16/2011 Tolleson Police informed the deputy the stolen vehicle was recovered in their city and Jolanda Toress was arrested for being in possession of the stolen vehicle and booked into Maricopa County Jail for the charges. On Saturday 7/16/2011 around 6pm a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on HWY 260 just east of Heber for speeding. The driver, Rachel J. Lowe from Payson, was arrested for criminal speed and reckless driving for driving 102 MPH in a 55 MPH zone on HWY 260. (2921)
On Saturday 7/16/2011 around 6:30 pm a deputy conducted a traffic stop on HWY 260 in Overgaard for a broken tail light cover. The driver, Allen Borders was issued a repair order on the tail light. The passenger, William Borders from Overgaard was arrested on a valid warrant and booked into the Navajo County Jail. (2921)
The Navajo County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the citizens of Navajo County to mark their personal belongings with an identification I.D. number. Please record serial numbers and keep the list in a safe place where it can be retrieved later. If these items are stolen, the numbers can be placed in a stolen data base providing law enforcement agencies throughout the country with vital information. Items without I.D. numbers cannot be entered making recovery difficult.
