Record breaking temperatures in the Valley this week!!!! I am sure I saw Gore’s big Gulf Stream gas guzzling jet circling Mesa. At least I saw one painted bright green and there was this guy that looked like Gore with his face pressed against the window and he seemed to be laughing. I thought sure I heard him yelling, “I was right, I was right, we do have global warming happening!”
Hot temperatures were not the only thing happening this week. Lamplighter Realty was born! We started with the Lamplighter name in 2009 as the name for my consulting company which was created to help people with various financial issues, particularly those involving real estate. Wife Debbie thought the name a good choice as it came from Psalm 119:105 where King David proclaimed to God, ”Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” Our objective, then and now, lie in assisting people by providing a spark they could use to light their lamp to see a pathway through troubled times. We believe that principles found in God’s Word do act as a lamp in our lives to light the paths of where we should go.
Our business motto reflects such an example. We treat our clients and the other businesses we interact with the way we want to be treated. Folks with a Bible background will recognize that motto as what the “good book” says and the Sunday School teachers label as the Golden Rule!
We believe that the Lamplighter represents that motto in action. Lamplighters were common in the history of our nation and Europe. They walked the streets at dusk with a torch in their hands. They understood that their torch could not provide all of the light that the people in their city needed to find their pathways to their destinies. Their torches were simply a means to provide a source that would light the lamps on the pathways people were traversing. Lamplighter’s shared their light to ignite other light. That’s what Lamplighter’s mission. We provide clients information so that they can see what lies around them and see the pathway that makes sense for them to follow. We see our mission as being more than getting a client to sign a paper that pays us a commission if some transaction should happen to fall together. We educate our client so they know the choices (paths) available to them and the pros and cons of each path. When our client makes a choice, we become their advocate and facilitator to make it happen. We lend our expertise to help our clients identify the physical conditions of their real estate and what that means for them. We help clients to buy or sell by guiding them through the entire process from neighborhood and property assessment to lenders, contractors, etc that will treat them fairly. That’s the way we would want a broker to treat us so we treat people that way!

Deb found our little mascot symbol when we launched Lamplighter Financial Recovery, LLC. As explained above, we believe it personifies our mission. We also believe it accurately represents us. We do business with what many view as old time principles. We take our job and our clients seriously, but just like our little mascot, we are “down home” people with our pets at our feet as we move about doing our job.
