BACK TO HAUNT YOU

I bet you thought you got rid of me when the last Newspaper shut down huh?  As you can see I’m back. I will be placing my column in two web sites.  herberovergaard.org  (the Chamber of Commence) and to Jesse Horns mogollonconnection.com.  I will try to address what’s going on in Heber/Overgaard and it’s people.  If you have some information you would like everyone to know about coming up, e-mail me at Pappyscorner@hotmail.com Will try to cover most anything you might want.

Now I best get busy getting the word out to all about three things coming up.

First up, your American Legion Riders of Post 86, here in Overgaard, will be holding their 5th  annual Freedom Gathering rally on September 10^th at the Legion Post.  The monies we might make at this rally will go to American Legion charities.  Come on down and join the fun.  Food, cold beer and lots of Veterans you can say, “Thanks for your service”

Then on Sunday the 11^th of September you ALL should know what day that is??  Patriot Day, the 10^th Anniversary of the attack on our country.

There will be a Flag Ceremony at the American Legion at 8:00AM. (Try to be there by 7:45)  This Flag ceremony will have a special meaning!  We, the Legion Riders of Post 86 were honored to be picked, by the Young Marines in Show Low, to receive one of the
two special flags that were presented to them.   If you come to the 8:00am ceremony you will be able to see it.  It is oh so special.  This Flag of Honor contains the names of ALL the victims of September 11^th, including the names of the emergency service personnel who gave their lives so that others might live!  This flag will continue to tell the human story and I am sure you will look at this flag with great pride.  It’s a MUST see folks.

Also on this Day, 9/11/11, we have asked ALL The Clergy in Heber/Overgaard to ring its bells at the following local times: 8:45AM, to remember those that died when the first airliner hit the north tower.

At 9:03AM for those that died when the second airliner struck the south tower and at 9:43 when the Pentagon was hit.  Last, but not at all least at 10:00AM when those brave passengers forced the crash of the

United Flight near Shanksville, PA. We ask also that at 12noon the bells ring for all those lost to acts of terrorism and the war against terrorism!

Further we, your American Legion family, ask the Clergy, in your worship, to take pause and remember those in uniform who have lost their lives in the War against terrorism!

So there you have it my friends. Some important things you should consider for the weekend of 9/10 & 9/11 of this year and every year.
