Our community has lost a real man and a good friend of many. This is not an obituary but a tribute to a fellow member of the Overgaard American Legion Post 86 and a charter member of the Legion Riders of Post 86. His Lady Pat is the Treasure of the riders. He was 1st vice of the SAL unit & Sgt. at Arms of the Riders, and a great part time Bartender. Harold Alness passed away on Monday January 30th at his home in Overgaard after a tough battle with the big C. The cancer had at one time been “under control” but flared up again and this time it could not be stopped!
In my 79 years of life I have met a lot of good people and Harold was right up there near the top of my list and considered to be a Good Friend. In most groups like the Legion and the Legion Riders, there seems to always be a small group of members that do most of the work when planning events/rallies. Harold was always ready to help and worked very hard to make them successful.
Yes a GOOD man is gone and I will miss him and will not forget him.
