The Eagles motto is “People Helping People” and on Saturday, March 17th they surely helped the Eastern Mountain Young Marines from Show Low. Our local Eagles Top of the Rim 4437 invited the Young Marines to attend a presentation of funds for their planned trip to Washington D.C to attend the 2013 Presidential Inauguration on January 16th, 2013. As the Inspector General of Young Marines in D.C. said in a letter to Commander Marty Jarvey of the Young Marines in Show Low, “this may be the only opportunity for a once in a lifetime chance to attend this truly historic occasion”! How true that is!! When the Eagles “Help People”, they HELP. All in all they had collected $950-00. $500.00 from the Aerie & $450.00 from the Auxiliary, which Mr. Doug Keran, Aerie President and wife Robbin, president of Auxiliary, presented to this group of fine young people proudly standing at attention in their Marine Uniforms. Any DI (drill instructor)) would have been proud of these troops. The following Young Marines that received the check were: Pvt. Lorelai Anderson, Pfc. Riley Elefahte, Lance Cpl. Justin Cherey and Lance Cpl. Tanner Heiser. Not only is Commander Jarvey and her Platoon planning to attend this event, she is planning to have 2 Navajo Code Talkers and caregivers accompany them.
The cost to get these folks to Washington and home is about $1000.00 each so you can see they need all the donations they can get. If you can donate just send any amount to: Young Marines P.O.Box 2734 Show Low, AZ 85902. You can find all you may want about this great origination by going to www.youngmarinesaz.com This will give you the history and goals of the Young Marines. Like their commitment to “say NO to Drugs, Alcohol and Tobacco”!
The Top of The Rim Eagles are to be congratulated on their great donation. Just another example of the people and groups we have here
in our community! Well done Eagles.
As always folks, BE SAFE, HEALTHY & HAPPY
Pappy
